<p class="MsoNormal">OSU’s former financial aid director, Dr. Charles Bruce, passed away Tuesday evening. He was the OSU director from 1981 – 2014.
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">For those of you that didn’t get a chance to know him, he was a prominent figure nationally, serving as NASFAA chair and also doing extensive work with the Department of Education. He was instrumental in the creation of the Direct Loan
program, of which OSU was one of the early adopters. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">He always had a very, very strong commitment to student service. One of our OSU colleagues remarked today that, “Charlie would do absolutely anything for a student except break a rule.” I think that’s a pretty wonderful description of
what we strive for in our profession. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">His full bio, prepared for his retirement in 2014, is attached.<o:p></o:p></p>
