[Okepas] EXPLORE parent mailing

Dear Counselor, 
 
In the next week, the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education will
be sending out a mailing to all of the parents whose child took the
EXPLORE test this year. The mailing will include three pieces: a letter
from Chancellor Glen Johnson, a Guide to Understanding the EXPLORE Score
Report and a sample of the EXPLORE Score Report. 
 
The purpose of the mailing is to encourage parents to sit down with
their child and go over their child's EXPLORE test scores and then start
making a plan for college. 
 
We know that school is out for most students so if you haven't given the
students their Score Report, please send it to them so they have it when
they receive the mailing. 
 
Attached is the letter and Guide to Understanding the EXPLORE Score
Report we are mailing so you know what the parents will be receiving
from us. 
 
This will be the first of four mailings we will be sending to this group
of parents over the next two years to help them and their child prepare
for the PLAN test in the 10th grade and the ACT in the 11th and 12th
grades. 
 
The mailings are paid for from the College Access Challenge grant the
State Regents received from the U.S. Department of Education in 2008 to
expand current initiatives aimed at increasing the number of students
who are enrolled and retained and complete degrees in higher education.
