From cbrown at osrhe.edu Wed Oct 2 16:45:23 2013 From: cbrown at osrhe.edu (Brown, Cynthia (OSRHE)) Date: Wed, 2 Oct 2013 21:45:23 +0000 Subject: [Okepas] Explore & Plan Testing Window Message-ID: <40725C2F1AA6F1439615D767C663D77519090A4D@Drake.osrhe.edu> OK Colleagues, Hope October is starting off well for you. My 4 year old grandson, Rex, is asking, "Is it almost Halloween, Gramma?" Halloween is significant for the OK EPAS folks as October 31 is the end of the testing window for Explore and Plan. Also, a few of you haven't yet ordered Explore and Plan. The last day to order is October 17. If you aren't sure if you've ordered, please call EPAS Customer Service at 1-877-789-2925. Please ask for a name and write it down. If you do not get your questions answered, please email me with the name of the person you spoke to and what your issues are and I will try to help sort it out with ACT. Also remember if you are testing students who are NOT SOPHOMORES, please call Customer Service for a separate Header Sheet to send with these tests so they are scored, reported and billed separately from your sophomores. Enjoy the blessing part! 1. District Explore and Plan reports will be likely not be received in your district offices until mid-December. The site reports should come in as in the past about two weeks after ACT receives your answer documents. 2. The ACT Regional Symposium will not be held this year due to ACT's organizational restructuring. 3. Explore/Plan Data Training Workshops: a. Woodward on October 23 has been canceled due to low registration. b. To register for one of the others, go to: http://okhighered.org/epas/prof-dev.shtml#data c. Don't forget we are available to come to your site to work with teachers to strategically plan for student learning using the Explore and Plan assessment information. 4. Also check out the Counselor Retreats at: http://okhighered.org/epas/prof-dev.shtml#cacr Yeah, I know that's four but I couldn't resist adding that last one. The importance of spreading the message about safe online behavior has never been more important. The majority of our youth are online, and the risks for cyber bullying, identify theft and other serious incidents among children is increasing. The contest is open to all public, private or home-schooled students in kindergarten through twelfth grade. Each state, local, tribal, and territorial (SLTT) government is invited to conduct a poster contest for students within their state and submit its top winners to the MS-ISAC by March 3, 2014 for entry into the MS-ISAC National Poster Contest. Posters will be judged on the following criteria: creativity, originality, poster concept and adherence to technical specifications. Any entry that infringes upon copyright or contains any trademark images or links for brands such as Disney Characters, Dell, Google, Twitter, Facebook, etc. will not be judged. Conducting a contest is easy and fun: * Review the criteria found online at the MS-ISAC website at: http://msisac.cisecurity.org/awareness/poster2014/index.cfm * Invite students to develop their artwork * Select the top winners according to the criteria * Submit those winners to the MS-ISAC by March 3, 2014 Winning entries of the National Contest will be included in the MS-ISAC 2015 Calendar, which is distributed to every state in the country as part of the MS-ISAC Cyber Security Awareness Toolkit. Entries received may also be used in other national, regional and state cyber and computer security awareness campaigns. Last year's contest included more than 2,000 student entries. The MS-ISAC encourages you to participate in this national effort. For only a minimal investment of time, you can help to reinforce the importance about online safety, and create positive messages that can help children across the country. If your SLTT government is participating in this contest, please let us know by emailing contest at msisac.org For more information about the contest, please visit msisac.cisecurity.org or email contest at msisac.org.
