Subject: Alternative Exam/Demonstrated Mastery application

Counselors and BTC,
            Below is the information that was sent to Superintendents. This application is where you would report students that qualify to be exempt from taking an EOI. I have attached a document that list the exempt scores and a brief explanation. As far as what is placed on the transcript.... Law says the highest attained EOI score is to be placed on the transcript. For the students that are exempt you have several options and it is ultimately a local decision. You can place "exempt," "met alt," any other statement or leave the testing area blank. The below application needs to be completed in order to get credit for A-F. As far as CBT.... These students should have been uploaded into a testing session. You are going to carry these students on the roster throughout the testing session. You will apply the exemption just like you do for all your other exemptions. Your 48 hour report will show these students as DNA, but your 2 week preliminary report should reflect the exemption. This process will generate a label and a parent report for these students. Please let me or the Office of Assessment and Accountability (405-521-3341) know if you have any questions. Thanks!!!

As far as TLE--- we are working through the process of how these scores will count for the teachers, but they will. Law says the teacher and district will get credit for the scores for accountability purposes.

Alternative Exam/Demonstrated Mastery application available
The Alternative Exam/Demonstrated Mastery Application is now available via your Single Sign-On (SSO) account. This application will allow you to submit alternate exam scores to the SDE for purposes of requesting that a student be exempt from taking the Algebra II, Geometry, English III, and U.S. History EOI as per Senate Bill 559. In order for the student to qualify for an exemption, the score on the alternate test must be at least 10% above the "Proficient" level cutoff according to ACE graduation criteria (please seehttp://ok.gov/sde/sites/ok.gov.sde/files/documents/files/ACE_16_Resources_Alt_List_JB.pdf#page=5<http://links.govdelivery.com:80/track?type=click&enid=ZWFzPTEmbWFpbGluZ2lkPTIwMTQwMzEwLjI5ODk4NjgxJm1lc3NhZ2VpZD1NREItUFJELUJVTC0yMDE0MDMxMC4yOTg5ODY4MSZkYXRhYmFzZWlkPTEwMDEmc2VyaWFsPTE2OTIyMjU5JmVtYWlsaWQ9bWF0dC5tb3JnYW5Ac2RlLm9rLmdvdiZ1c2VyaWQ9bWF0dC5tb3JnYW5Ac2RlLm9rLmdvdiZmbD0mZXh0cmE9TXVsdGl2YXJpYXRlSWQ9JiYm&&&102&&&http://ok.gov/sde/sites/ok.gov.sde/files/documents/files/ACE_16_Resources_Alt_List_JB.pdf#page=5> ). In addition, the student must also currently be enrolled in the course and otherwise eligible to take an EOI in order to be exempt.
You can access this new application by logging into your SSO account and selecting the "Accountability (A-F Report Card)" application. Once you are on your home screen, you can click the "applications" link at the top of your screen, and then select "Alternative Exams/Demonstrated Mastery."
Before you begin, you should ensure that you have all of the required information available. To submit a request, you must have:

  * The student's name or STN
  * The date of testing for that student
  *   The test scores
  *   The student's current schedule
To add a student to the list, click on the "Add New" link. You will then enter the name or STN of the student in question into the text box to search for the student. Next, you will enter in the test information into the boxes provided, and click on the "Check Scores and Get Results" button. This will provide immediate feedback as to which EOIs the student may be exempted from based on the entered score. Once the possible exemptions are listed, you must let the SDE know if the student is currently enrolled in the specified subject for the current year. If so, you should check the checkbox under the column labeled "Enrolled In This Subject For 2014" in order to claim the exemption. Finally, for submission, you are required to review and certify that the data is correct by clicking in the "Certify" checkbox and clicking on the "Submit" button. You will be taken back to the main page, and will be able to review any previous submissions.
Students with an exemption shall be treated as "Proficient" in the A-F Report Card calculations.
Uploading documentation of the test score is recommended. However, it is not necessary to do so in order to submit the request. If you do not upload documentation, you must maintain documentation in your own records that can be produced upon request.
In order to for the exemption to count appropriately on the A-F Report Card, the request must be submitted by the end of the testing window (May 9). If you have any question please contact the Office of Accountability and Assessments at 405-521-3341 or accountability at sde.ok.gov<mailto:accountability at sde.ok.gov>
