I also worked and presented at the 2015 OCIE conference. Thanks to your invitation, I presented at the counselor summer institute at Quartz Mountain Lodge last July. I'm emailing you to ask if you will send our spring workshop information to the attendees at the counselor summer institute AND to any other high school faculty you work with. Thank you for sharing information about our free workshops and free project. Best Wishes, Jo Ann To: High School Faculty We at Invest Ed(r) believe all students should have the opportunity to learn how to manage and protect their money and to learn how their money can work for them. To date, over 30,700 Oklahoma high school students have participated in our program. Check us out-we'd love for you to attend one of our free, one-day workshops. We are not competing with any other programs. Our free program is a project supplement intended to enhance whatever curriculum is being taught. It is for any student who has or is going to have a source of income. Invest Ed(r) trains the teachers then supports and facilitates those teachers. The teachers facilitate their students. This project is for all students and teachers. This project can raise students' awareness as to how their financial futures can be impacted by their choices, starting now. Here are some student quotes from the fall 2015 report competition. - Invest Ed(r) has also helped me stretch myself personally, showing me I can develop new interests that are foreign to my skillset, my background, and my nature. - Now I have the necessary financial tools and knowledge to prepare myself for life after I leave high school and enter the world on my own. - A value I learned throughout this was patience and respect. - It affected the way I will think about money from now on. - It is important to use critical thinking skills. - It kept me organized and on task. - I hope that one day [teacher] may invite me to this class to talk about the success that this course is responsible for in my own life. Attached are two documents with information about our free spring workshops. Everything about our program is free. I am a long-time educator-taught high school (including vo-tech / CareerTech) for many years and have directed our high school program since its inception in July 2005. My passion and my objective are and always have been to meet students' needs. I believe this project not only meets students' needs but also teaches them a necessary life skill. The impact of this project experience may affect students well beyond high school; that is education. Thank you for all you do for students. 3 attachments Respectfully, Jo Ann Jo Ann Dysart | Invest Ed(r) STARS Project Director 405.280.7728 | jdysart at investedok.org 204 North Robinson Ave., Suite 400, OKC 73102 fax 405.280.7742 -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
