We know it is early to start thinking about the summer but we wanted to get the word out so you can start making plans to attend! We are going to a new location that we are so excited about and we know you will love it, Shangri-La Resort near Afton, OK! Shangri-La opened its new Resort in the summer of 2017 and it is a gem on Grand Lake. Check it out http://www.shangrilaok.com/ The registration fee is $340, which includes your meals and lodging. The registration link will be available in January on our website; I will let you know when it is ready. Anyone can attend our Summer Institute, even if you have never been to a retreat or a conference, just pay the registration fee and attend. As always we are proud to offer this great professional development opportunity for you and other leaders in your district. We will discuss legislation, school law, OKPromise, concurrent enrollment, UCanGo2, FAFSA, share best practices for all grades, and much more. This is a great time to visit and share information with counselors, coordinators, and school administration. The conference theme is, “Leading the Way with Best Practices for College and Career Readiness!” The Oklahoma ACT Council invites you to submit breakout session proposals for this summit. Please read below: Share your Great Ideas at the OK ACT Summit! [Logo] Greetings: The Oklahoma ACT Council is pleased to announce the 2019 Oklahoma ACT Leadership Summit Call for Proposals. The Summit will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. The conference theme is, “Leading with Best Practices for College and Career Readiness!” To formulate an action-oriented conference, the Oklahoma ACT Council invites Oklahoma educators and workforce professionals to submit breakout session proposals for consideration. Session topics may include, but are not limited to leadership, best practices, test preparation, data sharing, workforce, social/emotional learning, parent and community engagement, remediation, and retention. Successful proposals will share practices and/or policies that help prepare students for college and career success. All proposals will be reviewed by the conference planning committee and must be submitted no later than January 11, 2019. Presentation Options: * Ed Talks – 20 Minutes - short impactful idea sharing sessions; like a TED Talk - limited to one presenter * Traditional Breakout Sessions – 50 minutes – longer and more detailed presentations - may have up to three presenters Note: Lead Presenter will receive a Conference Fee Waiver if allowed by Oklahoma Gift Laws. All additional Presenters must register and pay conference fees. Criteria for Review of Proposals: * Relevance to the theme of the conference and to educators and workforce professionals in Oklahoma * Diversity in session delivery, with an opportunity for participants to engage with session facilitator or other participants * Interest that the session could generate in a general conference environment with a diverse audience * Evidence of the impact of the highlighted best practice Submit your proposal.
