Here is a brief overview of ASIST: ASIST(Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training)-- A two day workshop that provides a more thorough understanding about the needs of a person with suicide thinking, what is helpful, how to emphasize safety by providing a model called Pathway for Assisting Life. This is a first-aid approach designed to prevent the immediate risk of death and to protect for safety. The model is evidenced based used in the US and 125 other countries. All branches of our military have incorporated ASIST in stemming the tide of suicides among active and retired personnel with significant results. Mental Health professionals, school counselors and administrators, law enforcement, moms, dads, interested community individuals have taken the training successfully and report how informative, helpful and effective the model has proven. CEU's for LPC, Drug and Alcohol, Family Therapy, Licensed Social Worker, Case Manager, CLEET. Cost-- $75.00 for both days of training, does not include meals or lodging. The meeting will be at UCO in Edmond at the Max room in the Chambers Library.
