This is a great professional learning opportunity especially for our rural Native educators who aren't provided the necessary support systems to build their instructional capacity.

Jacob Tsotigh, Kiowa Tribe

Dear Jacob,

It was a pleasure seeing you at the Southwest Intertribal Research Conference.

As I mentioned, we have several openings for science and math high school teachers interested in participating in the OU Research Experience for Teachers program.

The program consists of 6 weeks of summer research (June 10 - July 28) on the OU Norman campus (apartments and food provided) with OU faculty in their laboratories, as well as interactions and support during the academic semesters. Teachers receive $5,000 stipend plus up to $1,000 for classroom materials to implement curricula they develop. Teachers have the week of July 1 off.

Please forward the announcement to interested teachers and have them contact me for an application and further information. I'm more than happy to answer any questions by email or the phone.

Secondly, we also conduct one-day workshops for middle and high school science teachers on using the engineering method to teach science and mathematics. If you know of any teachers, principals or schools who would be interested in hosting us, we'd be more than happy to come out and conduct a workshop for them. Teachers receive 6 professional credit hours for participating. I've attached an old flyer from last year.

Take care, and I look forward hearing from you!

Mark
