Please forward this to your art teachers, Native American coordinators, teachers, etc. This is a Native Youth Climate photo contest for grades Kdg -12th. Encourage participation. The Spring Contest opened March 30th and submissions are due by May 14th.
The Fall Contest begins September 1st and submissions are due by October 31st.

The Tribal Resilience Program recognizes the importance of engaging our youth to sustain a resilient future for all Tribal Nations and Alaska Native Villages. For the visual arts and photo contest, draw, paint, or take a picture of something you value in your community that may be at risk, or vulnerable. Include a caption for your art describing the current impact - and what might be done about it.

The Spring Contest begins March 30th and submissions are due by May 14th.

Categories to Apply to:

  *   Elementary School (K-5th)
  *   Jr. High School (6th-8th)
  *   High School (9th-12th)
Artwork will be Judged on:

  *   Subject: How clearly are your thoughts expressed in the art?
  *   Caption or artistic statement: does this help the viewer understand the subject?
Winning Photos Contestants in 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will have their photos or artwork hung in the hallways of the one of the Department of the Interior buildings. A matching framed photo or other art will be sent to the school with a letter announcing the winners. Attention: You may have received a previous Virtual Native Youth Community Adaptation and Leadership Congress (NYCALC) announcement; however, the planning committee has decided to:

  *   Modify NYCALC from a 4-week program into a 3-day program
  *   Dates for the NEW 3-day Virtual NYCALC are Tuesday, July 13th - Thursday, July 15th, 2021 from 2-6pm ET.
  *   Extend the application deadline to April 30th
