<p class=MsoNormal>The Center for Teaching and Learning at Northeastern State
is pleased to offer the Fall 2007 session of the Online Instructor course. This
semester we are going to open enrollment to include faculty from Oklahoma
institutions of higher learning to participate in the completely online course.
Registration will be limited to 25 so please consider acting as quickly as
possible. The course will begin October 3<sup>rd</sup> and will last 7 weeks.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><b>This course is designed to prepare faculty to develop and
teach effective and engaging interactive online courses</b>. It provides a
foundation of distance education theory and application through hands-on
experience of being an online student. Completion of this course will provide
participants a menu of online teaching tools and techniques, as well as a
course blueprint from which a complete course can continue to be built after
the course is over. A primary result of the course will be development of the
online learning framework specific to your current teaching purpose with an
enhanced syllabus with assignments and interactions.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>The framework will be developed within the online
environment and will include identification of engaging and effective
activities, interactions, and resources to meet the course goal(s), learning
outcomes, and assessment strategies specified for the targeted audience for
each course.<o:p></o:p></p>

instructional design process to the development of your online course <o:p></o:p></li>
<li class=MsoNormal style='mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1'>Construct an online course
environment that balances instruction, collaboration, and just-in-time learning
methods <o:p></o:p></li>
<li class=MsoNormal style='mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1'>Select media and
technologies to maximize effectiveness of learning activities <o:p></o:p></li>

Length</b><b><br>
</b><b>This course is divided into four seminars, </b>with each seminar's
assignments being posted in an <b>agenda</b> that covers one week.<b> </b>Print
out the agenda, it will make it much easier to know exactly what needs to be
done.<b> Time required to complete course assignments is a minimum of 5 to 7
hours per week.</b><b><o:p></o:p></b></p>
<p class=MsoNormal style='mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto'>It
is very important that you have at least the <i>minimum</i> amount of time to
devote to this course. This is a "student centered" model that <i>requires</i>
your contribution in participation, peer review, and feedback to achieve the
course objectives. Clear out enough time on your calendar for the next several
weeks, because - <b>We learn from each other in this model-- it's not just an
"information download!"</b><o:p></o:p></p>
