Christine has a Bachelor's degree in Spanish, a minor in Latin American Studies, and a Master's degree in Human Relations. She comes to us from UCO, where she served as Assistant Director of Academic Advisement Operations. She also has served as Director of Operations for Creative Oklahoma. In the coming weeks, Christine will be asking each higher education institution Director of Sponsored Programs or other title who is in charge of grants to set up a 20-30 minute ZOOM meeting with her so she can begin to get to know you and your staff. Please feel free to contact Christine at cfisher at osrhe.edu or by phone at 405-225-9265 with greetings and your preference for a meeting. We are not traveling in person right now. I cannot remember when the Council on Grantsmanship meeting is set for the Fall, IF it is set up. So, please, someone respond with what you know about that meeting. Christine will attend that meeting and continue to get to know you and set plans for collaborations on topics if you have any requests of her. I am REALLY going to step out of the picture soon, even though I said that 5 years ago! I have loved working with every one of you. We have fond memories of great times. I know Christine and you will build future memories of great times, also. We do a very important thing in improving higher education for our Oklahoma students. I have always said you grant assistance people are the unsung heroes of higher education because of the role you play in obtaining grant dollars for creative and innovative research projects and academic programs. Love to all of you. (I might attend the Fall 2021 CGR meeting, depending on when it is scheduled). An RFP from JFF will follow soon. Thank you, Christine Fisher Coordinator of Grant Writing and External Funding Assistance Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education 655 Research Parkway, Suite 200 Oklahoma City, OK 73104 cfisher at osrhe.edu P: 405-225-9265 www.okhighered.org/grant-opps/ The $4.7 million initiative with Ascendium will boost postsecondary programs for incarcerated learners [JFF logo] [iStock-1192778667 copy] JFF and Ascendium Announce Ready for Pell Initiative JFF is excited to announce our partnership with Ascendium Education Group to support “Ready for Pell,” a two-year, $4.7 million initiative to strengthen postsecondary education programs for students who are incarcerated. The program is designed to strengthen emerging postsecondary education in prison programs in advance of the full restoration of Pell Grant eligibility for people in prison in the 2023-24 academic year. Ready for Pell will provide grants of up to $125,000 to postsecondary education programs in prisons or across systems. JFF will release a request for proposals for interested programs to apply; convene a Ready for Pell advisory board of leaders from the field; and select, support, and work with an independent evaluator to gather insights from the participating sites. “For these recently established programs planning to leverage Pell as a new funding source, now is a critical time to build a strong foundation for supporting students and ensuring quality,” said Amy Kerwin, Ascendium’s vice president — education philanthropy. People who participate in college-in-prison programs are far more likely to find stable, family-supporting employment after their release and far less likely to return to prison. JFF has substantial experience supporting innovations in postsecondary education. It has leveraged this experience to provide technical assistance to improve education opportunities and outcomes for returning citizens and students who are incarcerated through its Improved Reentry Education program and Juvenile Justice Reentry Education Projects with the U.S. Department of Education. “We are excited to bring the depth of JFF’s significant work in advancing postsecondary attainment and our extensive experience working with people who are incarcerated to an opportunity that’s long overdue,” said Lucretia Murphy, JFF’s senior director leading the project. “The outcomes from this initiative have the potential to scale and transform postsecondary education for learners who are incarcerated, benefitting those individuals, their future employers, and the public at large.” Learn More [Facebook] [LinkedIn] [Twitter] [Instagram] [YouTube] Jobs for the Future (JFF), 50 Milk Street, 17th Floor, Boston, MA 02109, USA Unsubscribe Manage preferences -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
