Associate/Ethnographer Krista Schumacher was named the recipient of the 2007

students from universities such as Harvard, Emory, and Rice. Schumacher’s paper,
“Beyond Cultural Competency: An Analysis of Key Variables Affecting Diabetes
Care among Patients at an Urban Indian Health Clinic” examines the influences of
culture and socioeconomic status on diabetes self-care.<SPAN
