Wohlers is a professor of political science at Cameron and most recently served as the <b>director of academic research</b>, which will be under the umbrella of the new office. The OAE will be located in the Cameron Exchange building, across the street from the MacMahon Centennial Complex. <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"'> <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"'>The goal of the new office is to provide students with a broader and deeper educational experience, Wohlers said. Over the past few years, CU has involved undergrads in research projects in agriculture, biology, chemistry, mathematics, psychology, sociology and other fields. <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"'> <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"'>Wohlers said the OAE will also help students find Study Abroad opportunities. Trips are currently in the planning stages for San Juan, Puerto Rico; Swansea, Wales, United Kingdom; Italy; and South Africa during the upcoming academic year. “The mission of this office is to create synergy between these experiences,” Wohlers said. While honors students will automatically come to the OAE for academic advice, Wohlers stressed the office’s services will be open to all CU students, although they will have to meet basic criteria — like a minimum grade-point-average— to take part in most programs. “From my perspective, I hope students will get involved in the program, like the experience, and it will ultimately help their academic careers,” Wohlers said.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:#1F497D'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><b><span style='font-size:16.0pt;font-family:"Monotype Corsiva";color:#1F497D'>Linda Mason, Ed.D.<o:p></o:p></span></b></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#1F497D'>Coordinator of Grant Writing <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#1F497D'>Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#1F497D'>655 Research Parkway, Suite 200<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#1F497D'>Oklahoma City, OK 73104<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#1F497D'>405-225-9486 desk<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#1F497D'>405-706-8757 cell<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#1F497D'>405-225-9230 FAX<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#1F497D'>lmason@osrhe.edu<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#1F497D'>www.okhighered.org/grant-opps/<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p></div></body></html>
