Colleagues,

As you are aware the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education (OSRHE) have provided grants for Summer Academies to promote hands-on experiences for Oklahoma students that spark interest in STEM and increasing their higher education experiences. While these programs continue to be successful, to help reach the OSRHE Blueprint 2030 goal to produce 100,000 degrees/credentials in STEM and critical occupations, we are excited to announce that we will be launching a pilot grant program, Full STEM Ahead, to expand STEM exploration opportunities. The purpose of these grants is to create new opportunities, rather than enhance or expand existing opportunities.

For those who may be familiar with our Summer Academy RFP and proposal process, you will find that the Full STEM Ahead grant process has been streamlined to facilitate a quick turnaround to meet fast approaching deadlines. We are providing this COMING SOON announcement so that you can share this with those on your campus that may be interested in submitting a proposal so they can begin thinking about ideas. Please watch for this upcoming opportunity in the next few weeks.

Below are the program requirements for this pilot initiative

  1. Hold at minimum 5 events January 2024 through May 2024, each event a minimum of 3 hours
  2. Partner with a local school district that is underperforming, has 75% or higher free or reduced price lunch student population or a local nonprofit that serves a similar population
  3. Partner with K12 faculty with appropriate expertise
  4. Serve students in grades 6-8
  5. Provide stimulating, hands-on learning opportunities for students through focused and motivating activities in STEM
  6. Strengthen mathematics and science concepts appropriate to the age group
  7. Include exploration of multiple STEM fields
  8. Submit final reporting
  9. Participate in a follow-up meeting to discuss successes and areas for improvement to help this initiative grow in the future
  10. Conduct survey of participants, provided by OSRHE
  11. Ensure appropriate supervision of students
