From abrennan at tulsacc.edu Tue May 1 12:29:32 2012 From: abrennan at tulsacc.edu (abrennan at tulsacc.edu) Date: Tue, 1 May 2012 12:29:32 -0500 Subject: [Coil-l] COIL Meeting May Date picked! Thursday, May 10th at 1:00 PM Message-ID: COIL meeting has been set for May 10th, 1:00 PM Meeting will take place on Vyew: http://vyew.com/635432/COIL There is a little bit of homework for the next meeting. Collectively, we need to decide on the conference name now that we have a theme, and a slogan. To that purpose, I have here a link to a spreadsheet where you can enter in any clever ideas that come to mind. We can vote on the winning idea at the May meeting. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Arx09CRO0pMxdHdHREZTZ3E4WTFhSmh0VF9HdVhhQ3c Last but not least, I'm soliciting a volunteer to come up with some language to put on a volunteer form for conference presenters. Ideally I hope that we can pass around a few drafts on the listserv here and approve a form at the meeting. If you would like to volunteer to kick off the process, let the list know! Other agenda items: -Share updates on space at NSU BA -Share updates on coordination with our webmaster -Post conference volunteer list -Plan conference layout (general decisions, such as food arrangements, presentation arrangements) -Plan advertisement strategies and deployment See you then! My apologies to Paul whose last name I do not remember. I believe at the meeting this afternoon we'll take corrections from the group. COIL Meeting Vyew.com Tuesday, April 24, 2012 1:00 p.m. Attendees: Adam Brennan, Sarah Burkhead, Kristen Burkholder, Beth Jones, Mike Meisenheimer, Jessica Moad, Paul ?, Lee Anne Paris, Claire Powers, Tammy Thomason, and Susan Woitte. Workshop Date Several dates for the COIL workshop were offered on a Doodle poll before the meeting. Friday, July 20th was the best according to the poll. Everyone agreed to set the workshop on that date. Workshop Topic/Theme A Google document was created before the meeting for workshop topic/theme ideas to discuss. Assessment and embedded librarianship were the most popular. Other recent workshops have been done on assessment so embedded library and instruction was agreed upon as the topic/theme. Workshop Location The location of NSU Broken Arrow was tentatively agreed upon pending more information about parking, campus being closed and food. Workshop Format It was agreed there would be a general plan for a speaker 9-10am, break-out sessions 10-11am, lunch, and a set of afternoon break-out sessions. Future Plans ? Promotion of the workshop for presenters and attendees ? Volunteers to complete preparation duties ? Next meeting to be online ? Workshop proposal form and Doodle Poll enclosed Wow! What a vacation! As wonderful as Europe is, there is no place like home. Oklahoma has such a lovely horizon. And space. Did anyone have any luck locating a talented graphic artist willing to work for gratitude and good will? The next order of business is to kick-start submissions for the conference. To facilitate this, I have designed a form that applicants can fill out for their session proposal. I have a link to the form here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dEkweWExay1RazBXaE9LOEV6ZlBFd1E6MQ The theme is the same as the form to sign up for the workshop (could be confusing? should we change it?). If anyone has any word-smithing suggestions for the form or additions, by all means let them be known! Ideally, I'd like to have them form worked out and ready to circulate the library universe by early next week. The deadline date and reply dates are quite arbitrary. If anyone feels we should adjust this, I'm all ears. Paul, I can give you the embed code for the COIL webpage as soon as we come to a consensus on the proposal form. Finally is our COIL meeting for June. I have a Doodle Poll here for times, I really want to squeeze in a F2F meeting soon, but I think this next meeting will have to be online again because of time constraints. If we go ahead and decide at this upcoming meeting to hold a second June meeting, I would vote we make the second meeting an in-person affair. http://www.doodle.com/nhc443gi6x5iqxfz We are going to rock this workshop!!
