I like the idea of the green covering the title--and the lifting image. I would probably be inclined to show some little stick figures floating up too, but that's probably not needed:)

I can see how it will look if you make the triangle big enough to cover the whole thing.  I had toyed around with it a little bit, and it looked ok.  Another idea might be to put the saucer over the title, and have concentric rings "lifting" the text up into the ship.

Adam,

I think I like the first one best.  Do you think it would be unreadable if you tilted the text to be in the green shadow?  That might not work well I don't know.

I think it is fine without the date, but I don't have any problems with adding it in.  At least the year maybe?
