Hi all,

Looking forward to having COIL back here! I'll need to get a head count, or car count, since we have about 10 or so generic permits and may have to order some more depending on the number of vehicles that need to park. To avoid cluttering the list, you might just email me separately (d.oberhelman at okstate.edu<mailto:d.oberhelman at okstate.edu>). So far I have Kristen's OCU carpool group (1 car). Kate, you're another I take it. Lot 15, as Megan said, is probably the best since it's close to Joe's and the Library, and around the 12-1pm timeframe usually has spaces opening up. We have some staff lots closed for building construction, so parking may be a little tight. Joe's doesn't do reservations, but I will try to get one of the bigger tables, probably upstairs, and I'll be there about 11:20.

As for the Digital Humanities talk, it will be in Room 206, Edmon Low Library at 1:00. I'll give a short overview on DH-I approach it more from the literature side since I'm the English librarian, but I'll cover some other aspects of it too. Then my colleague Sarah Coates from our Special Collections and I will talk about a DH undergraduate course project our English Dept. Shakespeare specialist devised in which student groups created digital guides to Holinshed's Chronicles (1587), the history book Shakespeare used as the source for his history plays, King Lear, Macbeth, etc. She'll even bring our copy of the actual book-if you promise to wash your hands before touching! :) We'll discuss our experience organizing instruction around such a project-based assignment (and teaching English majors how to use WordPress and work in groups).

Thanks,
David

Hello COIL,

Our next meeting will be held on Thursday, April 23rd at OSU. We will meet for lunch at 11:30 at Eskimoe Joe's<http://www.eskimojoes.com/> (I've seen the shirts, but this will be my first time actually eating there!) The meeting starts at 1:00 in 206 Edmon Low Library.

Carpooling is a good idea, as there is some construction taking place in staff lots at OSU. The parking map is at http://parking.okstate.edu/maps/maps_parking/CW_Parking.pdf and probably the best lot would be Lot 15, which is below the stadium (and Architecture) building on the east side of campus. David Oberhelman will have parking passes that he will give out at Eskimo Joe's. If you can't make lunch but plan to attend the meeting, please let one of us know, as he can mail the parking pass to you ahead of time.

Remember -- this meeting is on a Thursday, not a Friday. Many thanks to David Oberhelman!

See you there,
Megan
