Subject: [Coil-l] First COIL Meeting of 2015
Hello COIL,
I am so excited to be the chair this year. There are so many innovative things happening with information literacy, and it's a real honor to chair this group after Allison Embry did such a wonderful job last year.
During our last meeting of 2014 several people volunteered to present at future meetings on some of their expertise and the unique things they are doing in the world of info lit. Expect some exciting presentations and discussions this year from:
Adam Brennan: Cephalonian Method
David Oberhelman: Digital Humanities
Sarah Clark: Dissertation Research
Allison Embry: Instruction for Distance Students
If anybody else would like to share their expertise, let me know and I will add you to a meeting agenda.
Our first meeting of 2015 will feature Adam Brennan sharing and demoing the Cephalonian Method. This is a really fun way to add some interactivity and get students interested during orientations. Since he is presenting, we will hold the meeting at the Metro Campus of Tulsa Community College. We can grab lunch before the meeting at one of the delicious restaurants downtown. The meeting will be on Friday, January 30th from 1-3:30. Please let me know if you plan to attend and would like to grab lunch at 11:30.
We also decided at the last meeting that the summer workshop could be planned outside of the regular COIL meetings, just to give us more of an opportunity to share info lit ideas. As such, if you are interested in assisting with the summer workshop planning, please let me know. I will be emailing and having virtual meetings to plan for that.
Thanks,
Megan
