It's not really an image, but instead does a fresh install. The benefit is that you maintain a single OS image (don't confuse that with a machine image), and then various driver packages and application packages to be deployed in the Task Sequence. The driver and application packages can be updated without having to recreate the OS image. You can use WMI queries to target driver packages at a given PC model, which can speed up the Task Sequence install. There is also a method to add new patches to the OS image without recreating the image, but I haven't used that as we just recreate that single image from VM every six months or so. Price wise, you can't beat it because it's probably already included on your Microsoft agreement. SQL licensing is also included for each of the System Center products. Curtis R.
