Hi everyone,

Well, this was quite an interesting weekend and holiday with all the ice
and power outages. And evidently we got off a lot lighter than
McAlester did. It really pays to have a supply of candles and
flashlights and batteries on hand. And the one other thing that really
saved our sanity was our little wind-up radio. At least we could
listen to the news on Channel 6 since it comes in on 87.7 FM. The bad
thing is, they always show all the closings at the bottom of the screen,
since they are so numerous, instead of reading them off like they did
way back when, and the picture doesn't come in on a radio worth a darn!
And then, some of the radio stations would tell you if you wanted a
complete list of all the closings go to their sister TV channel or their
web site. And I thought I absolutely would do that if I had either
cable or electricity! Our home has central heat and air so we had to
pile on an extra blanket and our pack of little dogs to keep warm. Of
course, they're family, so they're always there anyway, but this time
they really came in handy. For those of you who don't think dogs are
good for anything, a well placed pooch makes a dandy foot warmer. For
those of you who can't bear to share your bed with your furry buddy, go
ahead and freeze if you want. The dog will be okay. It has a fur coat.

Our menu for today includes:
       Smoked pork chops
       Mashed potatoes and gravy
       Black eye peas
       Brussel sprouts
       Cabbage
       Garden blend rice
       Pasta bar
       Hot rolls

Our fast food is Cheeseburgers and French Fries.

And we have Strawberry Trifle and Peach Cobbler for dessert, along with
Lemon Jello on the salad bar.

And don't forget we have a Hot Chocolate machine with both regular and
sugar-free mix in it. My thermometer is showing 18 degrees and if
that's not hot chocolate weather, I don't know what is.

Come on over and warm up,

Rhoda :-)
