Hi folks,

Well, we've almost made it to the long, HOT 4th of July weekend!
Personally I think we need to schedule more holidays in the Spring and
Fall. It seems like all the good ones fall in times of either extreme
heat or extreme cold. Not that I'm complaining about having a holiday
now, mind you. I just wish we'd get a cool front or some more rain.

Our local PAWS group will have our regular monthly meeting this evening
at the Latimer County Public Library. This meeting will be moved up to
6:00 due to a scheduling conflict. We encourage anyone who loves dogs,
and is concerned about the welfare of area homeless pets to attend this
meeting. We are always in need of monetary donations to help get us
through the summer months when we can't have adoption days due to the
extreme heat, donations of dog food, people to foster dogs until they
can be relocated to a permanent home, volunteers to help at our pens,
and various other things if anyone is interested in helping us in our
mission to care for and find homes for the homeless dogs in our area.

Our campus Chief of Police, Mike Nowlin, is sure to have a BIG
celebration this weekend as he celebrates his birthday on July 3. He's
finally catching up to me.

Our Grants Manager, Debbie McIntyre, will have the whole country
celebrating with her as she celebrates her birthday along with America
on Mon. July 4th!

Don't forget to attend the great fireworks display on Monday evening,
July 4th, at Robber's Cave State Park. Our local fire department always
puts on a great show to celebrate Independence Day, and there'll be lots
of people from all around out there enjoyiing the spectacle in the
beautiful setting of our state park.

Our menu for today includes:
             Ribs
             Steamed cabbage
             Navy beans
             Macaroni and cheese
             Hot rolls
And for dessert have a piece of Fresh Apple Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting.

Have a great 4th of July weekend and be safe,
Rhoda 8-)
