Hi folks,

It looks like a great week ahead, with temperatures in the 60's, much
warmer than you'd normally expect for this time of year, when we're
usually having our coldest weather! I actually saw a daffodil blooming
in my neighbor's yard this weekend! Now I'm just getting scared that
winter will finally hit during Spring Break!

The EOSC Library is holding a "Food from the Heart" food drive until
Feb. 3, accepting non-perishable food items and monetary donations. All
contributions will stay with local families in need, so if you are able
to donate to those less fortunate, please take your donation to the
library or if you have questions or comments, email them at
library at eosc.edu.

And here's something several of you have probably been waiting on:
Eastern's Biggest Loser is back! The Staff Council is once again
sponsoring a Biggest Loser competition to help Eastern employees in
their quest to lose those extra pounds. The contest will begin on
Thursday, Feb. 2, with a weigh-in with Loma Messex in the Fieldhouse
between 10:00 a.m. and Noon. Cost is $2 per week, or $30 up front
(giving you a 1 lb. weight loss advantage), and the contest will end on
May 10. This may just be the incentive you've needed to lose those
extra pounds that most of us have accumulated over the years and can't
seem to get rid of! The first place winner at the end of the contest
will take home 75% of the prize money, and the second place winner will
get the remaining 25%. Happy losing!

Our wonderful Student Support Services staff is also sponsoring a
non-perishable food drive from now until Trio Day, Feb. 22, when they
will take all the donated food to the state capitol in Oklahoma City, to
be distributed to needy families throughout all 77 Oklahoma counties.
Boxes are available in several campus buildings, including the Student
Center, to make it easy to donate to this worthy cause.

This Thursday and Friday Melissa Lee and her wonderful student actors
will present three performances of "Eastern on the Edge", featuring
comedy and drama scenes, free to all. There will be a special
performance Thursday at 10:00 a.m.at the McAlester campus in the
Conference Center, followed by performances Thursday and Friday evenings
at 7:30 here at the Wilburton campus in Mitchell Auditorium. Be sure
and attend one of these performances and support our aspiring theater
artists! Break a leg, you guys!

Also, only on Thurs. Feb. 2, there will be a special "Leadership to Go"
program in the Ballroom at 6:00 p.m. featuring our own college
president, Dr. Steve Smith, speaking about how to create a vision past
tomorrow and become a successful leader. This is not to be missed!

Our menus for the week include:

Monday: Chicken parmesan with angel hair pasta, corn dogs,
assorted vegetables, bread sticks, baked potato soup and apple cobbler.
NO CYBER TODAY due to (wo)manpower shortage.

Tuesday: Meatloaf, or sausage rigatoni, scalloped potatoes, fried
okra, blackeyed peas, winter blend vegetables, hot rolls, assorted pies.

Wednesday: Ribs, potato cubes, corn on the cob, fried squash, pinto
beans, cornbread or hot rolls, chocolate cake.

Thursday: Chicken tetrazzini, broccoli, Malibu blend vegetables,
corn, hot rolls, apricot cobbler.

Friday: Smoked sausage, BBQ on a bun, potato wedges, baked

assorted cookies.

Have a great week at Eastern,
Rhoda :-)
