Hi folks,

Great news for Mountaineer basketball fans! For the second year in a row, our men's team, under the direction of Coach Scott Edgar, will be heading to Nationals! Congratulations on a great job, guys!

This week Eastern is observing Health & Fitness Week. Please check out the flyer put out by Dr. Julie Collins detailing the various events set up daily to help everyone on their way to greater health, better fitness and a longer more enjoyable life! Our Cafeteria will be offering healthier main course options, as well as more fruit and vegetable choices, this week as our part in this campaign to help Eastern become healthier.

As part of Women's History Month, award winning local author Rilla Askew, (sister of Eastern's own, Prof. Ruth Brelsford), will be speaking in the Johnnie Wray Theatre Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. Refreshments will be provided outside the theatre. Rilla will also be at the Latimer Public Library on Wed. March 13 at 1:00 for a book reading of her latest novel, Kind of Kin, set in Cedar (aka Red Oak) and Wilburton.

At 7:00 p.m. on Wed. March 13, Eastern's Music Dept. under the direction of Mr. Patrick Moore, will be presenting their Spring Concert in Mitchell Auditorium, with guest performers from the McAlester High School Steel Band. Please come and enjoy this wonderful performance.

Please wish Dr. Pat Ratliff a very Happy Belated Birthday, as she celebrated her big day yesterday. I hope it was wonderful!

Our main course lunch offerings this week will consist of:

Monday: Peppered steak

Tuesday: Pork loin and roast beef

Wednesday: Baked chicken breast

Thursday: Baked ham

Friday: Fish and tacos

And don't forget to check out our wonderful salad bar to make your own Chef Salad, or for extra helpings of fresh fruits and vegetables, and our Cyber Cafe for some great sandwich options, like grilled chicken, tuna or chicken salad, grilled turkey or ham and deli subs. Sandwiches will be served with baked chips, and a baked potato bar will also be available.

Have a healthy week at Eastern and enjoy your Spring Break next week,
Rhoda
