[Eoscstudents] Interested in being the Choctaw Nation Student Peer Advisor?

The Peer Advisor needs to be a member of the Choctaw Nation and the
Scholarship Advisement Program. The student will need to be an upperclassman
in good academic standing with the College. 

SAP's Peer Advisors work 10-25 hours per week.

 

 Job Summary: The Peer Advisor assists Choctaw college students, primarily
Freshmen, to stay focused on their academic goals.   

 

Primary Tasks:

 

1.	Mentor underclassmen by using personal experiences on that campus to
help Choctaw Freshmen adjust to college life and answer the student's
questions.  
2.	Offer information, guidance, support and suggestions for time
management, financial problems, academic struggles, school regulations,
personal issues and coping skills. 
3.	Refer the student to other key people on campus when needed.
4.	Contact each Choctaw student, primarily Freshmen, to inform them of
this service and to give them contact information.  
5.	Provides individual and group guidance services relative to problems
of scholastic, educational, and personal-social nature to students.
6.	Suggests remedial or corrective actions and assists students in
making better adjustments and in planning intelligent life goals.
7.	Plans and directs program to orient students and assists in their
integration into scholastic life.
8.	Investigates reports of misconduct and attempts to resolve or
eliminate causes of conflict.
9.	May initiate and conduct group conferences to plan and discuss
programs and policies related to assignment of quarters, social and
recreational activities, and dormitory living.
10.	Other duties as assigned by management
