Each semester, I like to remind students about our classes in the Mass
Communication Department. While I would love to have you as a major (common
areas include public relations, advertising, photography, graphic arts,
video production, journalism, and radio), you *don't have to be a major *to
take any of these classes.

The Intro to Mass Communication course will count as a General Education
elective for several degree plans, and any of these classes will count
toward the *General Studies Major Field*. We are always looking for student
workers for Mountaineer Radio and TV <http://www.radio.eosc.edu/watch>.

We are offering the following classes in the fall:

*MCOMM 1223 Video Production I *(MW 11:30-12:45 WIL) - This is a great
course if you want to learn the theory and practice of basic video
production techniques in television and post-production.

*MCOMM 1103 Fundamentals of Photography *(ONLINE) - Study of the
fundamentals of photography for the beginning student interested in gaining
a familiarization with photography and for the hobbyist. Study
photography's history, taking digital pictures, and working with digital
files. This is a FUNDAMENTALS course, so it may be similar if you have
already taken a photography course.

*MCOMM 1113 Introduction to Mass Communication* (2nd 8 weeks - ONLINE) -
This exciting course gives you an overall view of the mass media and how
society is affected. This course is a general education elective for many
majors. *This course uses a Cengage textbook. *

*MCOMM 1213 News Reporting *(ONLINE) - If you want to improve your writing
skills, this class is for you. It is the study of the fundamentals of
journalistic writing, emphasizing the elements of evaluating and writing
news for media, including interviewing techniques.

*MCOMM 1101 Publication Production* - (ONLINE) - This class is great for
students interested in writing, photography, web design, video production,
or social media management.

Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions, and always speak
with your advisor before enrolling.
