As you all finalize your spring schedules, I wanted to remind you about
the classes we offer in the Mass Communication program. While I would love
to have you as a major (common areas include public relations, advertising,
photography, graphic arts, video production, journalism, and radio), you *don't
have to be a major *to take any of these classes.

The Intro to Mass Communication course will count as a General Education
elective for several degree plans, and any of these classes will count
toward the *General Studies Major Field*.

Most of these courses use a Cengage textbook (NOT MindTap), so if you
already have Unlimited or are taking another course with Cengage, you will
not have to pay extra for the ebook. Any face-to-face classes are on the
Wilburton campus. We are offering the following courses:

*MCOMM 1203 Graphic Arts for the Media *(T 10-11:15 Hybrid): This course
introduces the creative and practical aspects of designing and preparing
materials for the media. It is an introductory course in graphic arts that
uses Adobe InDesign and Photoshop for projects throughout the semester.

*MCOMM 1143 Fundamentals of Public Relations* (ONLINE) - Use of tools and
techniques to support public relations programs. Attention is given to
objectives, content, style, and graphic presentation to interpret
organizational policies to internal and external publics through mass and
specialized media. *This course uses a Cengage textbook. *

*MCOMM 2033 Writing for Mass Media *(ONLINE) - Introduction to media
writing: expository and persuasive formats: supervised practice in writing
that informs, entertains, and/or persuades across all media platforms;
study of professional demands of organizing and presenting information in
various media with an emphasis on grammar usage and mechanics. *This course
uses a Cengage textbook. *

*MCOMM 1113 Introduction to Mass Communication* (2nd 8 weeks - ONLINE) -
This exciting course gives you an overall view of the mass media and how
society is affected. This course is a general education elective for many
majors. *This course uses a Cengage textbook. *

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, and always
speak with your advisor before enrolling.
