[Eoscstudents] Attendance and Excused Absence Policy

[John Spradling]

All, as a reminder for the seasoned and an awareness for those new to the
college:

The Faculty Handbook 03.069 states that “Students are expected to attend
all class meetings of any course for which they are enrolled (in person or
online).”

This bears weight for those faculty or staff who oversee student activities
regarding notification of the campus community of the student’s absence for
participation in required/authorized college events. Ensure that the coach
or sponsor notifies the campus community before the student’s absence.

Students relaying false information regarding participation in college
activities will be deemed to have violated Eastern’s Student Conduct Code
(p. 15 of the Student Handbook). Only relay information provided by your
coach or sponsor.

As a teaching and learning institution, we strive to represent what will be
expected from the larger community that we serve and coexist within.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
