TECHNOLOGY SPRING SYMPOSIUM


NORMAN - More than 1,000 visitors from universities across Oklahoma and
the states of the Big 12 university and other surrounding states, as
well as representatives from industry and government are expected to
attend the University of Oklahoma 2005 IT Spring Symposium on Thursday,
April 28. 

Scheduled to start at 7:00 a.m. with a continental breakfast and
conclude promptly at 5 p.m., the 2005 IT Spring Symposium free of charge
to participants and will be held at the National Center for Employee
Development (also known as the Postal Technical Training Center), 2701
E. Imhoff Road, in Norman. 

"Information Technology is excited to, once again, be able to offer a
comprehensive agenda for symposium participants," said Dennis Aebersold,
OU's chief information officer and university vice president for
Information Technology. "We're very fortunate to have such an amazing
group of speakers, including a joint K-12 Internet and Computer Security
Awareness Outreach session that has just been announced." 

The K-12 Internet and Computer Security Awareness Outreach initiative is
a proactive alliance between public and private sectors to promote and
facilitate programs on Internet and computer security to children and
community. 

This year's symposium is sponsored by Symantec, Hewlett Packard,
Agilysys, Perfect Order, Dell, Sun Microsystems, Cisco, Integrated
Technology Solutions, CheckPoint, Juniper Networks, FrontRange
Solutions, CompTIA, InfraGard, McAfee, Macromedia, Insightix, the Office
of Information Technology at OU and many other technology corporations.

event the best in the state, if not the country!" said Terry Johnson, of

The keynote speakers will be Tom West, president and chief executive

Manager in the Public Sector Group of Symantec Corporation, who will
speak on Assessing and Managing Security Risk in IT Systems: A
