My brilliant university relations person took a look at this for me and had an idea. What if we ran this as a memo to potential member institutions and saved the press release for "HESCO proudly welcomes the following new members"? Any thoughts?

Higher Education Sustainability Consortium of Oklahoma seeks members

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Higher Education Sustainability Consortium of Oklahoma (HESCO) invites institutions of higher education in Oklahoma to join the discussion and work collaboratively toward the common goal of environmental sustainability. HESCO facilitates the free exchange of information, ideas, and experience.

HESCO envisions a participatory alliance in which all institutions of higher education use their expertise and resources to make Oklahoma more sustainable. The consortium operates by working collaboratively and celebrating the diversity of expertise among institutions. Consortium members tailor programs and policies to meet the individual needs of each campus in accordance with location, student body, faculty, and mission. HESCO plans to showcase innovation and best practices among institutions for the advancement of all.

The Oklahoma State Facilities Energy Conservation Program, created earlier this year by Governor Mary Fallin, directs all state agencies and higher education institutions to cut their energy costs by at least 20 percent by the year 2020. This is one of many objectives the consortium seeks to address.

"HESCO has quickly become my favorite place for innovation and collaboration with my peers. I believe that this group will take on a leadership role in moving campus sustainability forward," said Tim Tillman, HESCO spokesman and University of Central Oklahoma Sustainability Coordinator.

HESCO was founded by the mutual consensus of the following institutions that have shown a commitment to sustainable growth and the advancement of each of their campuses: University of Central Oklahoma (UCO), Oklahoma State University - Oklahoma City (OSU-OKC), Oklahoma State University (OSU), Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC), Oklahoma City University (OCU), Oklahoma Christian University (OC), Southern Nazarene University (SNU), Metro Technology Centers, and Francis Tuttle Technology Center.
