PROFESSIONAL TECHNICIAN (Sustainability Intern) Starting Salary: $10.00/hourly JOB SUMMARY This position is located in the Office of Sustainability and is under the direction of an immediate supervisor. The employee will use subject-matter knowledge and judgment to complete assignments consisting of numerous steps that vary in nature and sequence. The primary function will be assisting the staff of the Office of Sustainability with program management. Essential job functions include: assisting in a variety of administrative matters by performing a combination of clerical to lower level administrative tasks to support office or business operations; meeting with partners and/or vendors; writing technical memos or manuals; inputting information into a database and spreadsheets, verifying data and reports for accuracy and completeness, and other activities assigned by the supervisor. JOB REQUIREMENTS -Knowledge of and skill in applying rules of grammar, spelling, and punctuation. -Knowledge of and skill in performing general clerical tasks. -Knowledge of and ability to apply office procedures and policies to work performed. -Knowledge of and ability to operate standard office machines and equipment. -Skill in communicating effectively. -Skill in organizing, compiling, and recording information accurately. -Skill in following verbal and written instructions. -Ability to operate a personal computer. -Ability to learn specialized screens or software packages. -Ability to accomplish tasks with minimal supervision. WORKING CONDITIONS -Primarily inside; subject to sitting, standing, walking, or using a telephone for extended periods of time. -Subject to continuous exposure to light and glare from a personnel computer screen. -Subject to constant noise of a keyboard, ten-key, copying machine, telephone and other office equipment. -Subject to frequent interruptions. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS -Finger dexterity enough to accurately operate office equipment, i.e., personal computers, keyboard, ten-key, telephone, etc. -Near vision enough to read computer screen and written documents (such as reports, billings, cash receipts, ledgers and memos), reports, correspondence, etc. -Speech and hearing enough to communicate in person and by telephone.
