[Lender] Implementation of Total and Permanent Disability Discharge Changes on July 1, 2013

The Department of Education (ED) has issued six electronic announcements (EA) relating to the changes to the total and permanent disability (TPD) discharge process implemented July 1, 2013.

The most recent announcement, linked below, deals with two issues:  1) how loan holders direct borrowers to ED's TPD servicer, Nelnet and 2) how Nelnet will use the Loan Holder Notification (LHN) file to communicate information to FFEL lenders and servicers.

Additionally, there is an action item included for loan holders who have not yet notified Nelnet of the SAIG mailbox or e-mail address to which Nelnet will send the loan holder's LHN files.
