Good morning Main Street!  Jeremy and I spent a couple of days last week with Jennifer Mullins, Director of Travel Promotion for the Department of Tourism, during the Lt. Governor's Turkey Hunt, and she was a well of information that will benefit our Main Streets.  Approximately five million people visit TravelOK.com annually to plan trips, find restaurants, events, and shopping destinations.  Discover Oklahoma uses TravelOK to find businesses, events, etc. to highlight on the show, and the information in the travel guide is pulled from TravelOK as well.  Below is a link you can send to your local businesses to sign up for free, and please list your events.  Example - the three of us were in Pawnee, OK in the store Where the Buffalo Roam.  The owner let us know how much more business she had since being featured on Discover Oklahoma.  While we were chatting, a couple walked in - they were on a day trip - and they chose to visit Pawnee because the store was featured on the show.  This is free advertising, so please take advantage of it.  I've asked Jennifer to come to the August training to talk more about free services available through the Tourism department.
