Good morning. Below is a brief update on what is happening at the Department of Commerce and a ruling on services for Marijuana Dispensaries. Please contact me if you have any questions, or comments.

Department of Commerce
As you know, the Oklahoma Department of Commerce has a new Executive Director, Brent Kisling, and a new Secretary of Commerce and Workforce Development, Sean Kouplen. Both are Main Street supporters, and Mr. Kisling asked me to be a part of his leadership team. We meet every Monday morning, and he wants to know both success stories and issues. This is a step forward for the Main Street program, and we need to take full advantage of the opportunity to be heard. Please let the Main Street staff or me know about both.

Marijuana Dispensaries
The OMSC received a request to assist a marijuana dispensary in a Main Street community. Legal Counsel at the Oklahoma Department of Commerce stated that even though the marijuana business is legal in the State of Oklahoma, it is still illegal with the Federal Government. Main Street is part of the Oklahoma Commerce Department and Commerce receives Federal funds, and it would not be acceptable for Main Street to work with the marijuana dispensary.

Have a good day,
Buffy
