Good afternoon,
As Buffy mentioned in our last MS Directors zoom call, Main Street America is advocating for federal funding specifically for Main Street support.

As we all know, much of the small business support in the last stimulus package did not reach many of our Main Street businesses in the manner we had hoped.
This effort, if successful would invest $100m in Main Street programming and businesses. The attached documents provides more detail of the proposed use of the funds as well as "talking points".

The Main Street Forward: A Roadmap for Recovery has more information of this advocacy effort. https://www.mainstreet.org/howwecanhelp/resourcecenter/mainstreetforward

Oklahoma's efforts :
A template letter has been provided that I will be updating and customizing with Oklahoma information.

Here's what I'm requesting from each of you:

1. Please send examples of what your community is doing/has done to support local businesses in response to COVID-19. Two or three examples, with your community name will be included in the letter.

a. Grants, supplies, technical support, gift card program, etc.

b. Include any investment amounts specific to these efforts. Example: Gift card program spurred $22,000 in sales to local businesses.

2. You will receive a copy of this letter after it is drafted and approved for Patrice Frey (Main Street America President) signature.

3. If you would like to add your program's support to the end of the letter, I will need the following info:

a. Contact name (director, board president, etc.)

b. Program name

c. City
Again, you'll be asked to "sign on" when the approved letter is sent.

4. Visit the mainstreet.org page to learn about more advocacy efforts that you can get involved in, i.e. op-ed letter to your local news outlets.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you in advance for your prompt response to these requests, I would like to get the draft sent back by Thursday.

Regards, Vicki
