Main Street at PastForward: GAMSA Celebration and More As you may have heard, October 30th will be a special day dedicated to Main Street content at the National Trust for Historic Preservation's upcoming conference, PastForward. This day of all things Main Street kicks off with a special plenary session announcing the 2020 Great American Main Street Award (GAMSA) winners and the inaugural Mary Means Leadership Award recipient. To enjoy all three days of PastForward events, Main Street America members are receiving an exclusive registration rate of only $75, which includes access to all session recordings for a full 12 months. For the discounted rate of only $150, members can register up to 10 attendees with the same email suffix address at no additional cost. We are thrilled to offer these Main Street-focused sessions and events at this upcoming virtual conference, and would love your help spreading the word. We've developed a media kit where you can find marketing graphics and sample language to promote the PastForward virtual conference, spotlight Main Street specific sessions and events, and highlight the special plenary-Celebrating 40 years of Excellence on Main Street-where we'll be announcing the recipients of our two national awards. Hispanic Heritage Month (9/15 - 10/15) September 15 to October 15 is National Hispanic Heritage Month! Please join us in highlighting Hispanic and Latinx business owners and community leaders to build awareness of the vibrant cultures and histories of Hispanic and Latinx Americans. We also want to hear how your Main Streets are working to advance equitable entrepreneurship and championing diversity. We put together a social media toolkit with sample graphics and captions that your Main Streets can use to get involved. Have a great story of a Latinx business owner or community leader you'd like to share? Let us know by emailing aarmato at savingplaces.org! Women's Small Business Month (10/1 - 10/31) Women's Small Business Month is just around the corner! OUR PARTNERS National Trust for Historic Preservation Yesterday, our colleagues at the National Trust for Historic Preservation (NTHP) unveiled their 33rd annual list of America's 11 Most Endangered Historic Places. View the list and learn more about this essential program. AARP Our partners at AARP are looking to connect with entrepreneurs aged 50 and older from across the country for a couple different initiatives: 1. Small Business Profiles. AARP is looking to profile the stories and experiences of small business owners and entrepreneurs 50+ for an anticipated newsletter. The intent is to highlight their business, lessons learned, and best practices that we can share with others. Once selected, AARP will connect with the small business owners directly to be interviewed. Please help us encourage small businesses to share their story! Learn more. 2. Research for The State of the 50+ Entrepreneur. Last year, AARP and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York launched a project, The State of the 50+ Entrepreneur, to better understand the challenges and needs for older small business success. As a follow up to initial research, AARP will conduct a series of individual interviews with entrepreneurs aged 50+. They need your help in identifying 5-10 small business owners from the following audiences-Black, Hispanic, Asian, Women, Veteran, and LGBT+- willing to be interviewed by their research team. Please send names to Colin Danly at Colin at publicprivatestrategies.com no later than October 2, 2020. If you share on your social media channels, consider tagging us!
