Our Bylaws info on absences is below. We've only had someone so blatantly
not show up / ghost us once during my tenure. It was at the very beginning,
so I don't remember how we handled the situation. I think we just realized
she was not interested. Her expressed intent was either misunderstood on
our end or a false commitment. I don't believe any formal actions were
taken such as a letter.
Attendance
Board members are required to notify a member of the Executive Committee
prior to Board meeting absences except in the case of an emergency as
determined by the Executive Board.
Three consecutive inexcusable absences may be considered a vacancy at the
discretion of the Executive Board. The Board Chair shall act to contact
those board members in violation to ascertain their intentions regarding
their board position responsibility prior to possible removal.

Subject: [MainstreetManagers] Absent board members
How do you all handle your board members that have missed more than the
three (or whatever your by-laws state) meetings?
Does your board president address it personally?
Does the board president send a letter?
Do you send an email or letter?
What is your process?
Is this something we need to discuss tomorrow morning?
let me know.
