[MainstreetManagers] Radio Broadcasting?

There are some considerations like is the station a member? Are they honest and reliable? I have actually worked with media for similar programs for Main Street … for one of our townwide events and it went well, although it was my program and I set up who we asked. If you’re giving an endorsement and you can’t be certain who he is approaching and what he is saying, no way.

Legally? You accept in-kind all the time. You just need to keep track of it and make sure it’s what is good for Main Street.

Just my simple opinion.

I don’t know anything about the legalities of this.  What I will say, from my experience, when we’ve tried similar things, they have not gone well for our program.   Also, I’m leery of someone wanting to use the good will our program has worked so hard to create with our businesses to help them sell ads.  I had someone approach me with a similar offer last month and I declined.  Just my two cents.  Good luck!

Have any Main Streets worked with a radio broadcaster to offer local businesses an Advertising Cooperative? I recently had a broadcaster approach me asking for our "endorsement" on this endeavor in exchange for free promotion. While it sounds good, I am weary of the legalities for a 501(c)3.
