Good morning Main Street.
I wanted to make sure everyone is aware that the Governor is rescinding the emergency COVID declaration today.
For this reason, the emergency open meetings act rules allowing teleconferencing will expire 30 days from today. Once these 30 days expire, the pre-pandemic rules essentially requiring in person meetings will go back into place.
It is still possible to have public meetings and allow teleconferencing; however the specific location where people appearing by teleconference must be open to the public. Furthermore, the location must be published in the meeting notice and a quorum of members must appear in the primary meeting location and you cannot have any executive sessions where people appear via teleconference. As the traditional teleconferencing rules do not help with COVID related issues, I would advise just going back to normal open meetings rules.
Please let me know if you have any questions, and I will get answers from our legal counsel.
Have a good day,
Buffy
