To be named the Oklahoma Main Street Director of the Year is an honor that I shall always hold close to my heart. To be amongst you all, and to be chosen by you is huge. I know how much you put into making your community a better place to live, work, and visit … and I know the hard work that goes with making things happen to make your community better. It is a high calling.  And you are all to be acknowledged for these good things.

The other finalists (Natalie, Heather, and Vicki) are people that I hold in high esteem and who do fabulous work. To say that I was surprised at the naming is so true … honestly, I did not think I had a chance and so I had not even told my Board of Directors that I was a finalist. I know, bad decision, right?

Thank you, Tamara, for contacting my board so some of them could be there. That was sweet seeing them there and having no idea they were outside. You realize I had texted them about the Virtual Fiesta award and I had texted Donna a picture of her Board Member of the Year plaque … no kidding … and she was just outside the room. Crazy. Those wonderful folks (my son Neptune was with them) drove almost 5 hours, saw the presentation, and then drove 5 hours back home so they could be at work in the morning.

I love you all. And congratulations to all who won awards … best of luck to everyone else because I know you’re doing great things, too. And to those who were at the banquet for their first time … now you’ve seen it, now go and win one of those awards for your community!  😊
