My emails were not coming through. No, your event insurance does not cover the music you will be broadcasting. Your event insurance is mainly if someone on the staff or an attendee were to get hurt. Normal event policies are $1million with a $2million aggregate. The music is separate and apart. This protects your board / organization should you be sued. And yes, I used the wrong terminology – the music coverage is a license, not insurance. You paying for a license to broadcast music publically because you are not playing music for your personal use. ~tamara From: MainstreetManagers On Behalf Of HDP Poteau Sent: Wednesday, April 13, 2022 9:14 AM To: Christine Hamner Cc: Main Street Managers Subject: Re: [MainstreetManagers] [EXTERNAL] (no subject) How do they work with BMI? You are paying to use other people's music at your event, which is different than insurance. Even churches have to pay a fee to use the worship music they play each Sunday. I hope these occasional Cultural District Roundup emails have been helpful, but we wanted to create a way for you all to connect with one another more frequently, so we have created a Facebook group for everyone, Oklahoma Cultural District Network. This is a closed group for those involved in cultural districts around the state. Please use this group to connect with other leaders in the field, share resources, and even promote what you all have going on in your neck of the woods. We’d love to have you join the group! Let me know if you have any issues joining, and feel free to introduce yourself and start connecting with others!
