Directors and Officers Insurance is not the same as Event Insurance.  This protects your board / organization should you be sued.

And yes, I used the wrong terminology – the music coverage is a license, not insurance.  You paying for a license to broadcast music publically because you are not playing music for your personal use. ~tamara

I know she said insurance but really ASCAP is a license not insurance.  You are paying to use other people's music at your event, which is different than insurance.  Even churches have to pay a fee to use the worship music they play each Sunday.  If you broadcast or play other people's music at an event than you should have this license.
