OK/SHPO Announces Updated NRHP Webpage

The Oklahoma State Historic Preservation Office (OK/SHPO) invites you to visit its updated National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) webpage. View it at http://nr2_shpo.okstate.edu/. The NRHP map with links to each nomination form is found at http://arcg.is/08Geyf or at http://www.okhistory.org/shpo/nationalregister.htm (select View an Interactive NRHP Map).

The newly developed webpage allows users to query NRHP listings by architect, property name or county. Users can also access multiple property listings (Multiple Property documentation forms, such as thematic listings for the WPA or Historic Route 66) throughout the state. To access information about restricted National Register properties (such as archeological sites), users must contact the OK/SHPO at 405/521-6249.

Government agencies, preservation professionals, and concerned citizens will find the website useful. Researchers can obtain the complete National Register nomination form in PDF, selected photographs, and maps (if available for scanning) for each of the buildings, structures, sites, districts, and objects in Oklahoma that are listed in the NRHP (unless the location of the property is restricted per NPS regulations).

The OK/SHPO completed the update of the webpage, in part, through its partnership with the Department of Geography, Oklahoma State University, to provide easy access to the state's NRHP information and to the Oklahoma Landmarks Inventory (http://www.okhistory.org/shpo/oli.htm).

For more information about the NRHP and other OK/SHPO programs, visit http://www.okhistory.org/shpo/shpom.htm.
