We have a program in Guymon that is really awesome and could be a fund raiser for your towns.

Do you have pole banners on your Main Street?  If you do and have the brackets up there, you can do the Troop Banner Project.  Or you can do the program and include the cost of the brackets so you can hang them.

Veterans who have lived in Texas County (Guymon is the county seat) are eligible and their families purchase their banners.  Our banners are 30" x 40" or so (they come in various sizes) and to get them they need a photo of the vet and some sort of discharge papers (and if the family can't find them, the banner company actually can help you get that done, too).  This includes banners of deceased and alive veterans.

In just a very short time in Guymon one man sold 26 banners.  And they are fabulous hanging on the poles.
Cost is from $70 - $125, so that all depends on your banner size and whether you include the cost of the brackets.  We sell ours for $150 and $25 goes to the American Legion.  To find out more, visit www.troopbanners.com<http://www.troopbanners.com>.

Now, what works really well for me is that I post on facebook and send to the newspaper a photo of the banner being hung with information on who is hung and where to contact to get another banner.  It's new and promotion that is free.  Hopefully you have a newspaper as wonderful to work with as ours is.
