From: Deb Brown [mailto:deb at saveyour.town] Sent: Wednesday, January 31, 2018 5:20 PM To: Becky McCray Subject: Webinar for SaveYour.Town Info Hello all! Here is your latest benefit as one of our partners: your chance to bring Stories that Sell with your towns and cities, Feb 13 and Feb 20. We all have challenges with telling our story well, whether that's marketing our business or our town as a whole. On the Survey of Rural Challenges, rural people like yours told us these were both in their top 5 challenges in 2015 and 2017. In this lesson, Deb is sharing stories that have an impact. Becky brings in the logic: why stories work, and how to tell when you've got it right. Want to see more details? www.saveyour.town/story This webinar comes in 2 parts: a 30 minute recorded lesson plus a one hour live discussion. The 30 minute lesson on Future of Retail is available to watch anytime after February 13 at 12 noon CST. Your people get a week to watch, then the live Q&A and discussion session will be one week later, February 20 at 12 noon CST. We expect a large turnout of people eager to share stories, ask questions and hear from each other. We will recognize you as a partner or cooperating group at the beginning and end of the Q&A session and also on our website. Below you’ll find the email to forward to your list. You can use it ‘as is’ or if you’d like us to tailor it to your people, just hit reply and let us know. I’ve also attached some graphics you can use in your social media promotions. (All the images are licensed for commercial use, so feel free to share on any channel.) None of these images have the dates on them - if you use them, you'll want to include the dates in your posting - or hand write them on the flyer! My last day with you at Oklahoma Main Street is tomorrow, Friday, February 2nd. I have accepted a position to become the new Colorado Main Street Architect. I wanted to take a moment to write you to express my gratitude for letting me serve you, share a little more about my move, and make sure we stay connected. I have been blessed to work with each one of you, and nothing can ever replace the sense of community shared in this program. We have lived a lot of life together during the past 6 years that I have been on staff. Whether hard times or bright days, we have been there for each other, and I appreciate every kindness and every conversation. For perspective, my wife and I have been wanting to move to the Denver/Golden area and planned to do so once I became vested in my State pension (April 2019). But, God's timeline looked a little different, and when the former MS Architect in Colorado put in his notice it became crystal clear that that role was where I was supposed to be. Over the past few months, the stars literally aligned to make this move even possible. This transition is bittersweet, and I know it will not be without consequence. Leaving all my many wonderful Oklahoma Main Street relationships, family, and friends are hard, but, I am excited for the opportunity to remain part of our Main Street network and see my family's dream of living in a mountain state realized. I will miss you dearly and appreciate the lessons that I have gleaned from you and the wonderful people in your districts. Let's stay connected. Fortunately, in today's day and age, it is easy to stay connected. While on staff with OMSP, to avoid any conflict of interest, I did not pursue online/social media relationships with active Main Street acquaintances. Now that I will no longer be working for you, I hope to stay connected with you in this way. Here are the best ways to remain connected: Blog: Since Earth Day 2017, I have been posting religiously on my personal blog "Green Heart Town". I write about once per week and engage readers with topics that I bet you would like, too. In a nutshell, a Green Heart Town is a place where we all take part in the active renewal of our homes, neighborhoods, and downtowns from the inside out. Being a part of this incredible program and working with the best people in Oklahoma has added more delight & purpose to my life than I could have ever imagined when I began over 6 years ago. I am a little sad to leave the land of my upbringing where - thanks to you - I feel at home anywhere. But, the places we called our Oklahoma Main Streets have strengthened my heart. The places and more importantly the people in them will forever be part of me. Thank you for adding meaning to my life, making your communities stronger today, and for working to leave a legacy for the next generation. Yours truly, Larry Larry B. At Oktoberfest, I pay off-duty police $30/hour each to guard the entrances/exits of where we have high-point beer and alcohol. They are there in case anyone gets rowdy, but mostly to make sure no one leaves the "consumption area" with alcohol. This helps keep the ABLE Commission happy with me. We used to pay a private security company $20/hour, but they went out of business. At Enid Lights Up the Plains, the police department provides several officers because there are so many people. :) Kelly - Enid On 02/12/2018 5:15 pm, Collinsville Downtown, Inc. wrote: > Not us, no money in the budget for that. For those of you who are new, we normally have a National Conference T-shirt that everyone would wear at the open plenary session. Larry used to make a contest out of this, but since it is coming up so quickly and Larry has departed to Colorado, we have decided to offer the T-shirt from last year. So if you do not have a shirt, below is a link for you to purchase one. They only start at $8!!!!! That’s pretty good. Also, I want to thank Kim from Collinsville for handling the whole shirt purchases. She is even willing to bring them to you so you do not have to pay shipping. So if you are purchasing one for the first time or purchasing one again because of how cheap the price is, click the link below and follow the very easy instructions! Thank you.
