NFL Foundation Grassroots Program In partnership with the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) the NFL Foundation offers financial and technical assistance to improve the quality, safety, and accessibility of local football fields with grants of up to $250,000 for capital improvement projects. Application Deadline: August 30, 2019. 3. The 2nd Edition of the International Student Challenge "UrbanFarm" will take place in the coming months. Students join forces to design Urban Food Projects in three target locations. During the last week, we received several requests of information and for late application. We decided to reopen the call for cities to 7/15/2019. The call is open to city administrations, private companies, no-profit bodies and representatives of the civil society that want to redevelop an urban vacant space and are committed to sustainable food systems. Rural Housing Preservation Grant Program USDA Rural Development offers this grant program to eligible entities that work to rehabilitate and preserve affordable housing for rural low and very low-income homeowners and qualified renters. Citizens' Institute on Rural Design National Endowment for the Arts' Housing Assistance Council offers opportunities that connect rural communities to design resources, enabling communities to act on ideas for improvements to a community's streets, buildings, public spaces, or landscapes to address the specific physical, environmental, social, and economic challenges facing rural areas. Application Deadline: July 22, 2019. 8. Rural LISC (Local Initiatives Support Corporation) created the Community Facilities Fund to provide capital to help develop and improve essential community facilities in rural areas. Rural LISC utilizes this fund to provide permanent and construction-to-permanent financing for rural community facilities, including health care centers, hospitals, educational facilities, and other nonprofit and public facilities in rural communities with populations under 20,000. Where Housing Units Are Changing The Census publishes key housing changes as the nation's housing stock increased by 6.8 million units since April 1, 2010, showing North Dakota as the fastest-growing state, in terms of housing units. 2. Agricultural Resources and Environmental Indicators, 2019 USDA, Economic Research Service's new Publication describes trends in economic, structural, resource, and environmental indicators in the agriculture sector which provide assessments of important changes in U.S. agriculture industry development and implications for economic, social, and environmental sustainability. 3. NTIA's New Comprehensive Guide to Federal Broadband Funding The NTIA introduced a new searchable database of 50 federal broadband programs, spanning a dozen federal agencies with billions of dollars for broadband grants, loans and other resources. The database, created with help of participating federal agencies, fulfills a goal set out in the American Broadband Initiative announced in February to make it easier for community leaders to find federal funding and permitting information. 4. The Center for Indian Country Development Reservation Profiles The Center for Indian Country Development updated its Reservation Profiles with new data from the American Community Survey (ACS) (2013-2017) and its broadband usage rates. National Child Welfare Capacity Building Center for Tribes DHS offers support to establish a center for Tribes to serve as the technical assistance focal point for coordinated and culturally competent capacity building technical assistance American Indian and Alaska Native Nations. Indian Health Service Small Ambulatory Program American Indian and Alaska Native tribes or tribal organizations operating an Indian health care facility may receive up to $2 million dollars for the construction, expansion or modernization of small ambulatory health care facilities. Economic Development Feasibility Study Funding - Native American Business Development Institute The U.S. Department of Interior's Office of Indian Energy and Economic Development is soliciting proposals for technical assistance to hire consultants to perform feasibility studies of economic development opportunities with selection priority given to applicants whose proposals focus on businesses and projects located in Opportunity Zones. Application Deadline: July 1, 2019. 5. Indian Housing Block Grant (IHBG) Competitive Program HUD announces the availability of $198 million for competitive grants to Indian tribes and tribally designated housing entities eligible to receive IHBG funding under the Native American Housing Assistance and Self-Determination Act of 1996. New Oklahoma Arts Disaster Resource Page- The Oklahoma Arts Council has launched a new webpage with helpful information for artists and arts organizations affected by this spring's inclement weather. Leadership Arts Alumni Survey- Graduates of the Oklahoma Arts Council's Leadership Arts program are urged to complete a survey that will help our agency prepare for the future of the program. Regardless of current job or residency status, alumni from all ten Leadership Arts classes are encouraged to take the survey. The survey is a comprehensive evaluation of participants' experience in Leadership Arts. Oklahoma Organizations Awarded NEA Grants- The latest round of National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) grant investments in Oklahoma will total $783,650. Announced May 15, the funding will benefit four organizations, including the Oklahoma Arts Council as the state NEA partner. Grants include: Cherokee Nation ($10,000) - an Art Works grant will support weekly art sessions for Cherokee Nation foster children. The program aims to use traditional Native arts to strengthen sense of identity. (Read the NEA blog about the program). Oklahoma Arts Council ($753,650) - the state partnership grant supports arts programs, services, and activities associated with carrying out the agency's NEA-approved strategic plan. Oklahoma State University Museum of Art ($10,000) - an Art Works grant will support the exhibition "The State We're In: Water." Tulsa Opera ($10,000) - an Art Works grant will support Tulsa Opera's "Raise Your Voice!" youth education program. 11. New Grant Program for Jazz Artist Tours- Emerging and mid-career Oklahoma jazz artists can apply for a new grant program that will bring live jazz to areas underserved by the genre. Through Jazz Road Tours, funding will support tours of three to six sites. Solo and ensembles of up to 10 members are eligible. Grant awards will range from $5,000 to $15,000. Eligible expenses will include performance fees, travel, lodging, and meals, among other items. The first deadline for applications is August 1. Rolling deadlines will be offered through June 2022. Jazz Road is a new initiative led by South Arts in collaboration with the six U.S. regional arts organizations. The goal is to improve work opportunities for jazz artists and strengthen relationships between jazz musicians, presenters, and communities. 12. CIRD Can Aid Rural Oklahoma Place making Efforts- The Citizens' Institute on Rural Design (CIRD) is currently accepting applications for its 2019 program. An initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), CIRD provides funding, training, and design workshops for towns with populations of 50,000 or less. Bringing together local residents and community leaders, CIRD empowers citizens to build on their rural assets, using creative pace making to enhance local economies and quality of life. It provides $1,000 travel stipends and access to online education and coaching. Read about past CIRD projects in Greenville, Mississippi; Las Vegas, New Mexico; and Valentine, Nebraska. Apply for CIRD through July 22. Applications may be submitted by local and tribal governments, nonprofit organizations, Main Street organizations, university community design centers, and other eligible entities. 13. Nominate an Oklahoman for a National Heritage Fellowship- Through July 30, the National Endowment for the Arts is accepting nominations for its National Heritage Fellowships program. Honoring master folk and traditional artists who reflect our nation's living cultural heritage, fellowships recognize artistic excellence, lifetime achievement, and contributions to America's traditional arts. The program supports ethnic and cultural diversity as a strength of our national character. 14. Sand Springs Art Teacher Earns Fulbright Award- Oklahoma arts educator Leland Leslie of Sand Springs is one of 25 U.S. teachers who will travel overseas through a Fulbright grant program during 2019-2020. Selected for academic and professional achievement and leadership potential, recipients of Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Semester Research grants travel to one of 12 countries for up to six months of independent study and professional development. The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government.
