[MainstreetTowns] 2026–2027 Oklahoma Main Street Incentive Program – Applications Open September 1

Good afternoon, Oklahoma Main Street Communities,

The next round of the Oklahoma Main Street Incentive Program is just around the corner!

We are pleased to announce that the 2026–2027 Oklahoma Main Street Incentive Program application period will open September 1, 2026, and close September 30, 2026.

The Oklahoma Main Street Incentive Program is designed to encourage investment, construction, and development that helps sustain or restore vibrancy in Oklahoma's Main Street commercial districts. Projects should enhance the quality of life in the community while supporting economic activity, attracting visitors, and encouraging additional investment.

Program Highlights

Eligible Main Street Levels:


  *   Fully Designated Main Street Programs – maximum award of $150,000
  *   Select Main Street Programs – maximum award of $100,000
  *   Network Main Street Programs – maximum award of $50,000

Eligible projects may include:


  *   Facade and building improvements within the Main Street area
  *   Landscaping and improvements that beautify the district and encourage visitors to spend more time downtown
  *   Lighting, sidewalks, and other amenities that improve safety
  *   Distinctive installations or public art
  *   Infrastructure improvements that support downtown residential development or improve access to additional real estate within the Main Street area

The program requires a 50% local match, meaning the maximum program award may cover up to 50% of the total project cost. Communities must also be able to demonstrate that the required matching funds are available for the proposed project. Additionally, 10% of the project cost must be expended before reimbursement funds can begin to be released.

  *   Example Timeline Map – Provides an example of the anticipated application, review, award, and project timeline.
  *   Application Guide – Provides detailed instructions and information to assist you in completing the application.
  *   Example Application – Provides an example of how the application questions may be addressed and can be used as a reference as you develop your project proposal.

I strongly encourage communities to review these materials now and begin preparing your application before the portal opens on September 1. Starting early will give your community time to identify the project, confirm the local match, gather supporting documentation, and work through the application requirements.

Application Opens: September 1, 2026
Application Closes: September 30, 2026

Applications must be submitted during the open application period. Please do not wait until the final days to begin preparing your application.
