Good Afternoon:

My name is Angie Willits, I am the new LUMINA Degree Completion Manager at the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.  I am excited to get this project off the ground, as I am sure all of you are also.  The goal of the this initiative is to provide a statewide degree completion program to include degree programs connected with workforce development needs on "Oklahoma's 100 Critical Occupations" list and to develop a program that leverages financial and other support services for adult degree completion from multiple sources.  The initiative will build on the Reach Higher Adult Degree Completion Program, and expand its reach and opportunities.

The plan is to secure funding from multiple sources to cover educational costs for adult students.  We would like to begin by getting together with all of you, our partners from Oklahoma's post-secondary institutions, regional workforce board representatives, employers, Foundation representatives, and Native American Educational Office representatives, for a one day workshop in either Oklahoma City or Tulsa (whichever is most convenient for your campus).

We cordially invite you to bring a team from your institution and 1-3 business partners from your area, and join us for one day of information and planning: February 8 at University of Central Oklahoma, or February 9 at Tulsa Community College.  Team members should include representatives from your leadership (chief academic officer, and /or chief student affairs officer), Reach Higher Coordinators, Foundation representatives, and representatives from Financial Aid, Academic advising, veteran's programs, Native American Education offices, and workforce development, and business partners who are key stakeholders in working with degree completion efforts for adult students in your service area.

Please use the link below to register.  Each team member will need to individually register.  We will reserve space for your team of up to 15, so please coordinate on campus to register all team members to attend together at the same venue.  Please register by February 1.

The event will be from 9 am to 4 pm, with a light breakfast and boxed lunches provided.  I look forward to collaborating with all of you on this initiative to help Oklahomans finish their degrees and increase our economic sustainability.

Travel Reimbursement for Institutions:
We will reimburse institutional travel costs for teams from the institutions that travel greater than 60 miles to the workshop.  Forms for institutional travel will be provided at the workshop per vehicle with a maximum of $150 per vehicle depending on distance traveled.  If you drive your personal vehicle, the reimbursement will got to the institution, so you will file your personal travel reimbursement following your institutional policy.

The meeting agenda will be sent soon.  The day will include presentations from the Center on Law and Social Policy, WIOA information, and other issues to assist adult learners.  The goal of the day will be to create an institutional plan for connecting adults to degree programs.
