Certification/Census Roster where the faculty submit those who are "no shows" and we remove them out of the system BEFORE we process federal financial aid, 2. Mid-Term roster where we communicate with students & advisors those grades of D or F at mid-term, and 3. Final Grade where the faculty may submit either an F or AW grade but they must give last date of attendance before they can proceed to the next student in their class. This allows financial aid & the VA to have all of their necessary dates. Faculty can WARN/DROP a student in the first 14 weeks of class for attendance issues. Because we are dealing with freshmen & sophomores, we strongly encourage faculty to use this system. Our position is that payment of tuition & fees is punitive enough without assigning failing grades to those who have dropped off the face of the earth. Hope this helps. Through our online roster and grading system, faculty can access rosters, contact information for student, course availability for assisting students in finding sections with open seats, and submit roster certifications, midterm grades, and final grades. ? Roster Certification - By 5pm the next business day after the census date, faculty are to certify attendance or non-attendance in all of their classes that have met. Attendance for these purposes is defined as attending a live class at least once or logging into an online class at least once. Rather than removing students from the class for non-attendance as NOC does, we have a procedure that reduces the number of financial aid eligible hours by the number ofcredit hours each students is not attending. Students are informed at the time of enrollment of the importance of attending class, and they are emailed when fin aid hours are reduced for non-attendance. ? F Grades - when faculty submit an 'F' grade for a student, that faculty member must submit a 'date of last attendance', which is the date of last attendance for a live class or date of last login for an online class. For students who earn an 'F', the date of last attendance is defined as the last date of the semester. This process allows us to identify earned and non-attendance 'F' grades. The conference will be October 6-7 on the University of Central Oklahoma campus. Please visit the conference website for session details, online registration, maps and directions, hotel accommodations, and more. We are extremely grateful to Dr. Myron Pope, Vice President for Enrollment Management at the University of Central Oklahoma, for again graciously offering to host this year's conference on their campus. Given the positive response from last year's efforts to keep the annual meeting convenient and affordable, we have chosen to continue with the shorter conference format for another year. The executive committee has planned a full two-day event with 27 sessions, including a keynote address titled, "College Admissions for the 21st Century" presented by Dr. Robert J. Sternberg, Provost and Senior Vice President, Academic Affairs, Oklahoma State University. Please complete your online conference registration (www.oacrao.org) by September 23, 2011. I look forward to seeing you at this year's 2011 Fall Conference. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. I assume we will be seeing more and more students who graduate from accredited virtual online high schools and schools where students work at their own pace; thus, a student can complete more quickly than students in standard high schools. This would allow a student who is 16 to graduate from an accredited high school. I have had two 16 year old applicants this fall semester. According to Regent's policy, homeschool students' and GED applicants' peer high schools must have graduated (or will graduate at the same time) for admission to be offered. The "age" question does not arise for those who graduate from an accredited high school. I don't think this question has been addressed by the Regent's. Would you admit a 16-year-old student who graduated from an accredited high school whose peer high school has not yet graduated? -- Dawn Cain Director of Admissions Northeastern State University Tahlequah, OK 74464 800-722-9614 918-444-2211 918.458.2342 --This electronic mail transmission ("EMT") and any attached documents may contain confidential and privileged information.
