A good opportunity for him, but the golf courses are more expensive, so there's ups and downs. I have accepted a Business Analyst II position with the State Regents Office in Athens, Georgia. While that sounds rather vague and dry at the same time, I will be basically the DegreeWorks person for all 31 institutions in the state of Georgia. I will be training individuals on programming the software, retraining individuals when turnover occurs, and also serving as a liaison for the institutions in reporting defects to SunGard. I'm looking forward to the increased responsibility and the focus on my first love, degree audit issues. Each eTranscript is distributed as a secure, certified PDF file which displays a blue ribbon at the top to indicate that it's been certified as official by OSU. While we still offer standard paper official transcripts, this new service allows expedited delivery of official transcripts to any recipient with a valid email address (typical delivery time is less than one hour), and it provides students and alumni the ability to track their orders online. The recipient receives an email indicating that OSU has sent an official electronic transcript on behalf of the student, and provides a link to access the document. Upon clicking the link, the recipient is provided an opportunity to receive a document access code that they can use to download the eTranscript. Other institutions who use the Avow eTranscript delivery service include the University of Colorado - Boulder, the University of Kansas, and Kansas State University. I am very much interested in this as well. Our current policy is to charge 50% of the credit hours that are awarded for extra-institutional credit (PLA) to the individual. We do not charge for credit posted as advanced standing. Then we (Enrollment Services) periodically run a list of these students and change their registration status to AW, which puts an AW on the transcript, and refunds them 75% of the tutition and fees. Faculty can only do this during the time that a student can withdraw themselves. We don't use it for disciplinary or misconduct reasons. And we struggle with defining "never attended" for an online course. And we occasionally back one out and reenroll the student when the instructor and the student agree they can actually finish the course. At this time OSU Stillwater Undergraduate Admissions utilizes BIS scanning software to store images of transcripts. We also have a fairly sophisticated workflow process that each document goes through as the information is entered into our SIS system. However, all transcript processing on our campus is still manual, meaning a person is entering the grades from the scanned image to our SIS system. We are not yet extracting data files that can be imported to an SIS system. Hope this helps. The student must research and provide the course description and attach it to the request. The request is then presented to the chair of the department in which ORU offers the course for approval. We do not use their TES service though. The Registrar and myself and two other Admissions and Records employees are responsible for much of that research. However, some academic advisors and other campus staff use the website for course description research also to help with advising. We do not use their TES system. College Source is mostly utilized by our articulation department, although advisors also use it. When we need departmental input, we simply send the necessary information to the appropriate department chair. We also utilize an institution's website to access more information when necessary or for older catalogs when available. Most research is done by our articulation department if the information is not readily available. We will sometimes require a student to bring in information, for instance if the course is from the 70's, but that is rare. We keep our own database of all transfer decisions, which includes any necessary documentation. I hope this helps. (I apologize for the late reply as I was out of the office Friday.)
