We would allow the course to count for the requirement.

Subject: [Oacrao-l] Quarter hours to semester hours and degree requirements

Hello, fellow registrars! Is it Friday yet? I'm curious as to how you handle a transfer student who completed courses under the quarter hour system and they are now entering your semester hour institution. If the student ends up bringing in (after converting to semester hours) a college algebra course for 2.7 credit hours and your college algebra course is 3.0 credit hours do you give the student credit for fulfilling that degree requirement? I may be smoking something (no comments) but I thought that I've heard through the years that if a course was granted 2/3 of the required credit it could be used to satisfy the degree requirement. Assuming you allow this is it university wide or program specific?

I look forward to your feedback.
